Sensors are deployed on the seabed for years at a time and track the location of tagged fish. VOTO together with, SLU, are building capacity so that our autonomous systems, i.e. the Sailbuoys, can communicate with the fish tracking systems, and relay the data back in real time rather than having to wait years for the recovery of the moorings. The Sailbuoys or Gliders can also be equipped with a fish finding sonar that can detect schools of fish that has not been tagged. These systems will allow better, quicker, and more effective response when managing fisheries. These functions will be set up as a demonstrator to test for functionality. The demonstrator is intended to be a model for a fish tracking network around the Baltic.
