Ocean Dreams takes audiences from the coral reefs of Raja Ampat to Bikini Atoll, where sunken battleships are now covered in coral, and the fjords of Norway. The film shows what can happen when marine life is given the space and time to recover.
As director Johan Candert has said: “Most people are aware of the challenges facing our oceans, but many lack hope – or a clear sense of what we can do differently.”
A film like this can give people that hope. On Cosmonova’s IMAX screen, the audience is surrounded by the ocean and sees with their own eyes that recovery is possible. For VOTO, Ocean Dreams is a way to engage people and help move them from awareness to action.
Ocean Dreams premieres for the public in Sweden on 24 October, at Cosmonova in Stockholm and Universeum in Gothenburg.
The film is the work of many people. Thank you to Deep Sea Productions for producing it, to SK Films for bringing it to audiences internationally, and to IOC-UNESCO, which coordinates the UN Ocean Decade, for endorsing Ocean Dreams as a Decade Action.
A special thank you to our partner Investment AB Latour, one of the partners that made the film possible, for a collaboration built on long-term thinking.
And thank you to everyone who came to the premiere.
